Sermon: “Prideful Isolation”

Sunday, August 29, 2010
Readings: Proverbs 18:1-10, Philippians 2:1-11, Mark 14:22-31

There I was, alone in my driveway with only my pride to keep my company.  Prideful isolation is a characteristic of foolishness in the Proverbs and the topic of Pastor Seabaugh’s sermon for August 29th.  Listen to how God brings us into humble community through His humble Son, Jesus… and find out why Pastor Seabaugh was stuck in his driveway!

Sermon: “Who is Wisdom?”

Sunday, August 22, 2010
Readings: Proverbs 8:1-11, Ephesians 5:8-19, Matthew 25:1-13

Proverbs is one of the favorite books of the Bible for many people.  You can always seem to get something out of it.  She always seems to come through.  Who is she?  Wisdom.  She’s in competition with that other gal, Foolishness.  What’s this all about?  Take a listen!

Sermon: “How to Praise”

Sunday, August 15, 2010
Readings: Psalm 148, Hebrews 13:8-16, Luke 19:28-40
Hallelujah!  Praise Yahweh!  Hallelujah!  Praise the Lord!  Why?  How?  Where?  Who?  The last five Psalms in the book of Psalms are filled with the praise of God.  Listen as  Pastor Seabaugh challenges us all to make our praise of God distinctive of our praise of everything else.

Sermon: “Brace Yourself”

Sunday, July 18, 2010
Readings: Job 38:1-18, Romans 11:25-36, Matthew 11:25-30
Brace yourself!  There’s nothing like the feeling of muscles tensing and that held breath that accompanies bracing ourselves for something.  Job had to brace himself for God to speak to him and tell him the way it really was.  Listen as Pastor Seabaugh tells us the way it really is directly from the mouth of God.

Sermon: “Eyes of Flesh”

Sunday, July 4, 2010
Readings: Job 10:1-7, Hebrews 2:14-18, John 1:9-14
To say Job is going through a “tough time” is to underestimate dramatically the power suffering has over our thinking and feeling.  Job feels as if God has completely ignored his situation and has left him to suffer unjustly.  He wonders aloud if God has “eyes of flesh” to see what is happening.  Listen as Pastor Seabaugh answers Job’s question in the affirmative and shows how God’s eyes of flesh look upon us with grace as well.

Sermon: “A Conversation with Satan”

Sunday, June 27, 2010
Readings: Job 1:1-12, Revelation 9:1-6, Luke 10:17-24
So God was hanging around in heaven when Satan walks up and God issues him a challenge about this Job guy who is righteous and devout…  Sounds like the beginning of a joke, doesn’t it?  Actually, it’s the beginning of one of the most powerful books of the Bible in regards to our response to suffering in this world.  Listen to Pastor Seabaugh describe the role of Satan and his ultimate defeat by Jesus’ death and resurrection.  No joke!

Sermon: “The Cupbearing Wallbuilder”

Sunday, June 20, 2010
Readings: Nehemiah 1:4-11, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31, Luke 10:1-9
There are so many of us who want to make a difference.  We have big ideas and are very motivated, but the challenges are so huge and the chance to make real change so small.  If Nehemiah would have thought that way, the walls of Jerusalem may not have been rebuilt.  Listen to how God used a cupbearer to become a wallbuilder and how God can and will use you to make a difference too.

Sermon: “The Remnant”

Sunday, June 13, 2010
Readings: Ezra 1:1-5, Romans 9:27-33, Luke 13:22-30
There used to be so many.  Now all that is left is a remnant.  The people of Israel were removed from the promised land many years ago, but now they are told to return and to rebuild.  They were no longer the numerous, powerful nation of the past, but they were faithful.  Listen to Pastor Seabaugh speak on the remnant of Israel and address the question, “Are we a remnant?”

Sermon: “Surrounded”

Sunday, June 6, 2010
Readings: 2 Chronicles 32:1-15, 2 Corinthians 4:7-12, Luke 23:32-43
Your options are limited.  You can either fight or you can give up.  You’re surrounded.  I suppose someone may come from outside and save the day, but you can’t just depend on that happening… or can you?  Listen and find out how God defended His people from the Assyrians and how He defends us through Jesus.

Sermon: “God”

Trinity Sunday, May 30, 2010

So, how do you handle something that is true?  Not just something that is only true for you, but something that is just plain true?  This is our attitude about the God we worship.  He is the one and only true God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  He is the creator of all that exists.  Listen to Pastor Seabaugh describe the all-encompassing impact of the reality of God for life on this earth.
